Disappointing this place has closed since Sac wouldn't repair the deck area. I visited on the last day and got the clam chowder and the cheese bread. Both were great. Met the business owner and you could tell she had her heart and soul in this place.

I'm so sad to see/here that Rio City Cafe is closing its doors this Saturday, August 27, 2024. Stephanie Miller, owner...You did a great job at expressing the closure on the news. Your staff, especially the manager and bartenders that i forgot their names at this moment. It has been a pleasure partaking in this establishment. It's bitter sweet as we have brunch there the day after our wedding and on each anniversary every year and my son proposed to his wife there a few years back. I hope we'll be able to pop in before closure Thank you so much for the memories!

I just heard the news. Rio City Cafe is officially closing and will no longer be in business after August. Last time we came we tried to eat outside, but it was closed due to it needing repairs. As it turns out the land is owned by the city and they city don't want to repair the outdoor dining area so it won't be open again. That is one of the reason why it's closing. That's over 100 seats that can't be sit in as it's a hazard zone. We got the most loved dish on our last visit. We ordered the sourdough loaf. It's delicious. It's cut open and filled with cheese, they toast the bread and melt the cheese then they serve it up on a plate covered with olive oil and basaltic vinaigrette. It's simply delicious. It's my favorite dish. If you have't eaten at Rio City Cafe go now before they close and order the sourdough loaf. You won't regret it. It makes the perfect appetizer or a meal for 2. It's like eating a grilled cheese sandwich. That's how I ration eating half a loaf of bread at one seating. They also make really good tacos and a chicken sandwich. That's what we ordered last time. The clam chowder is also delicious. If you arrive around 1:30pm on a Saturday you just miss the lunch rush and they have plenty of seating.

Great food, great customer service from the gentleman I believe his name was Tyler. In the front with the hostess she looked puzzled for a party of five there was a lot of empty seats asked for the patio dining but for now they have closed off the patio so when you think your gonna enjoy the view be prepared it's closed. She then stated it'll be awhile because of one server working. But another gentleman came and said sit them there so we sat down right after. We were celebrating my bday and let me say the food didn't disappoint at all, all the appetizers from the sourdough the poke nachos, the sauce for the calamari was great I wish the calamari was a little more crisper my son However ate most of it since it's his favorite appetizer. Let's just say I came for the sourdough cheese pull loaf and of course the ribeye amazing grilled to perfection the flavor was so good no A1 steak needed. The asparagus and garlic mash went well with it. The salmon however was a little dry and thin for my liking but the salad was delicious! Not sure about the jambalaya my daughter ordered I didn't try it not pictured but my hubby said it tasted like Chile powder and wasn't the flavor he's used to so that's up in the air. My sons had the clam chowder bowl and wagyu burger nothing wow about the burger but the price all the fixings came on the side so you assembled your own burger. They don't give bday dessert but they do put a candle on one the server was so nice he asked for my name and sang happy bday with us. He showed amazing customer service thank you !!! I would come again for the food !

We liked the location on the river...like everyone else seems too. Unfortunately they are unable to have seats outside at the moment. Very impressive amount of tables inside and I got a good look at the pro kitchen setup while walking in. It was brunch time so we got the brunch menu. We had no problem finding something we all wanted. Service was a little frantic feeling at first but I think that was just the first impression...that was wrong. Great service, food came out surprisingly fast and delicious might I add. Really would like to return for the dinner service and menu. The bar looks like a fun chair to hang;) Great place, I think everyone knows that. And look at our plates!

Had a found the reunion, a party of approximately 50 people and they accommodated us well. We were sat at two tables and they did individual checks which I know is a pain in the butt most of the time but they were good about it. They also validate your parking. The food was pretty good, lots to choose from. Victor, our waiter was awesome.

We ate here in October 2023 (I only just realized I had not done a review yet). We had eaten here in the past (mostly in the later 90s when we lived in the region) but it was the first time we had been here in many years. We had a great experience. We had lunch or brunch on Saturday. We got the SOurdough Cheese loaf, which was phenomenal - a nice crusty loaf of hot sourdough with cheese (not too much), plus balasmic vinegar, olive, oil and chili flakes). 5 stars. It had just enough of everything to go with the bread and it was nicely hot. We also got the Monte Cristo sandwich, also phenomenal and a wonderful rendition of that sandwich, It was hot with a crispy fried outside, nice doughy inside, and a good amount of meat and cheese. 5 stars. We also got old fashioned cocktails, very well made. Service was great - friendly and efficient. The indoor areas is nice but can be a bit cramped and loud. The real star for the ambience is the outdoor seating looking right out over the Sacramento River, a very nice setting.

River views and great seafood! I'm so glad I rediscovered this great spot. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the patio overlooking the river. The cocktails were delicious and the service was excellent. Don't miss the sourdough cheese loaf!

"I recently visited Rio City Cafe for the first time, and I must say that I had a mostly enjoyable experience. I ordered the 'Bees Knees' cocktail, which was quite tasty and hit the spot. However, the Salmon BLT I tried was just okay. The bread in the sandwich seemed to break apart with each bite, making it a bit challenging to eat. Despite the mixed experience with the food, the highlight of my visit was the sourdough bread. It was absolutely delicious and truly stood out. In fact, I find myself still thinking about it a day later. I would consider returning to Rio City Cafe solely for the sourdough bread and cocktails. It would be the perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink or a delightful start to a night out on the town. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, and I could easily envision returning for a relaxing evening with good drinks and that amazing sourdough bread. Overall, my visit left a lasting impression, and I look forward to indulging in the bread and drinks at Rio City Cafe again in the future." I forgot to mention the server was okay she seemed a little nervous. I'm not sure if she was new so I will just leave it at that.

Delicious food with a view of the water and bridge! I had low expectations of this place tbh because in touristy areas the food is usually not good. The sourdough bread cheese appetizer with balsamic is absolutely the best thing ever! The bread was so crispy yet chewy and fluffy and just drenched in yummy cheese and the bottom has balsamic which added a good tang that broke up the richness. Absolutely one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Also had the shrimp and crab Louie and it was also huge and delicious! Great amount or seafood they did not skimp. Very filing. The waiter also kept refilling our water. Highly recommend sitting outside so you can see the view, however don't be alarmed when the ferry's horn goes off because it's very alarming so be careful don't drop your phone in the water lol Staff here were really nice.
